From Towanda to Flanagan, this F0 tornado ran 2.6 miles across McLean and Livingston counties on April 2, 2006, touching down at 7:22 PM CDT and reaching 50 yards wide. It killed nobody.

The rating scale

    Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

    Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

  6. F5261 to 318 mph

    Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

  7. Unrated

The tornado briefly touched down in a field. No damage was reported.

The tornado did minor roof damage to an outbuilding. It then crossed into Woodford County.

The tornado touched down in far northern McLean County, then crossed into Livingston County (NWS Chicago forecast area). No damage was reported in McLean County.

A F0 tornado touched down about 3 miles west of Gridley in Mclean County, crossed into Livingston County about 9.5 miles southwest of Flanagan, then dissipated about 8.0 miles southwest of Flanagan. No damage or injuries were reported.
