Ranked by deaths, injuries, damage and size together.
- Flooding and Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, October 29 to 30, 2012Post Tropical Storm Sandy caused an initial estimate of $20 million dollars in damage in Pennsylvania and directly or indirectly caused 15 deaths across the state. Most of the damage in the eastern part of the state was wind related as wind gusts reached as high as 81 mph.
- Flash Flooding and Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, September 16 to 17, 1999Hurricane Floyd battered Eastern Pennsylvania (especially Southeast sections around Philadelphia) on September 16th and brought with it torrential and in some places record breaking rains and damaging winds.
- Tornadoes and Tropical Storm in Pennsylvania, August 4, 2020Tropical Storm Isaias brought high winds, heavy rain, several tornadoes, and coastal flooding to the mid-Atlantic region, becoming the most impactful tropical cyclone to impact most of the region since Sandy in 2012.
- Flash Flooding and Flooding in Pennsylvania, September 5 to 10, 2011The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee that interacted with a stalled frontal boundary produced several days with periods of heavy rain across Eastern Pennsylvania from the 5th into the 8th.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, April 16 to 17, 2011The strong southeast wind up the Delaware Bay and River combined with the already high astronomical tides associated with the full moon and fresh water runoff from heavy rain to produce severe tidal flooding along the Delaware River and tidal sections of its tributaries during…
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, September 29, 2011The combination of fresh water runoff, unusually high spring astronomical tides and a weak southeasterly flow produced moderate tidal flooding during the afternoon high tide cycle along tidal sections of the Delaware River and its tributaries.
- Flooding and Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, December 21 to 22, 2012A deep low pressure system tracked across the Lower Great Lakes northeastward into the St. Lawrence Valley from the evening of the 20th into the daytime of the 21st.
- Flash Flooding and Flood in Pennsylvania, April 16, 2018A strong backdoor cold front moved from northeast to southwest across the area late Saturday afternoon April 15th into Sunday morning April 16th.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, October 28 to 29, 2021Strong high pressure located in eastern Canada and slow moving low pressure approaching from the southeastern states resulted in a prolonged onshore flow along the Middle Atlantic coast.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, November 25 to 26, 2018A coastal storm resulted in tidal flooding along the tidal Delaware River.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, May 12 to 13, 1998The combination of the continuous rain, onshore flow up the Delaware Bay and high astronomical tides because of the recent full moon produced widespread minor to locally moderate tidal flooding at the times of high tide along the Delaware River and tidal sections of its…
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, January 3, 1999The combination of runoff from the heavy rain and higher than normal tides caused by the strong onshore flow in Delaware Bay caused minor flooding along the Delaware River and tidal sections of its tributaries in southeast Pennsylvania.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, June 28 to 30, 2006The freshwater run-off from the heavy rain combined with the higher of the two astronomical high tides of the day to cause moderate tidal flooding during the early morning on the 28th and 29th and minor tidal flooding during the early morning on the 30th.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, March 2, 2007An intense area of low pressure on the 1st moved into the Upper Midwest with a cold front stretched southward across the Ohio Valley all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. Meanwhile, another cold front moved through the Northeast and settled into the Mid Atlantic region.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, April 15 to 16, 2007The combination of the fresh water run-off and the onshore flow associated with the nor'easter caused minor tidal flooding at the time of high tide along tidal sections of the Delaware River and its tributaries overnight on the 15th.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, September 10, 2018A persistent onshore flow and unusually high astronomical tides associated with the new moon resulted in widespread moderate coastal flooding along the tidal Delaware River and its tidal tributaries during the early hours of September 10.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, September 1 to 3, 2021Runoff from the heavy rain associated with Post Tropical Cyclone Ida produced moderate to major flooding along the tidal Delaware River on the night of September 1. There was another round of moderate flooding on the night of September 2.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, December 23, 2022Low pressure moved northward from the eastern Carolinas on the 22nd to eastern Pennsylvania on the morning of the 23rd. It was then absorbed by a stronger low moving across the eastern Great Lakes.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, December 18, 2023An area of low pressure passing over the region resulted in strong onshore flow and a push of water onshore and up the Delaware Bay and Delaware River, where moderate coastal flooding was observed.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, January 10, 2024A strong system affected the region with steady southerly flow pushing water up into coastal communities both along the ocean and within the Delaware River/Bay and Chesapeake Bay. Water levels on the tidal Delaware River were higher due to 2 to 4+ inches of rainfall.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, March 9 to 10, 2024A coastal storm moved through, bringing strong onshore flow, which resulted in water piling up along the coast and within back bays and tributaries. Moderate coastal flooding was observed.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, January 13, 2024Strong south to southeast winds resulted in widespread tidal flooding for much of the coast line and tidal waterways. The strong southeast to south winds resulted in a push of water up the Delaware Bay/River and through the back bays of the Atlantic coast.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, April 4, 2024Strong onshore flow with a potent storm moving up the NJ/Delaware coast resulted in water piling up along the New Jersey coast and within the back bays. Water also was pushed up the Delaware Bay, which also resulted in tidal flooding within the Delaware River.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, April 12, 2024High astronomical tides in addition to strong southerly flow resulted in higher water levels, mainly along the Delaware Bay and tidal Delaware River.
- Coastal Flood in Pennsylvania, December 6, 1996An intensifying low pressure system off the New Jersey coast, runoff from the heavy rain and an upstream wind with the rising tide caused minor to locally moderate tidal flooding along the Delaware River during the morning of the 6th.
