The 41 kt gust was reported at Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Ft McHenry is 7 miles northeast of Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
- Marine Strong Wind in North Atlantic Coastal Waters, October 6 to 7, 2006A strong low pressure system off the North Carolina coast caused gale force winds across much of the Mid Atlantic coast and southern Chesapeake Bay.

This resulted in a 31 foot boat capsizing near Niantic Bay. Two men were thrown into the water. One of them was killed. The boat sustanied significant structual damage.
