- High Wind and Strong Wind in Idaho, January 13 to 14, 2021A strong cold front moved through northern Idaho on the morning of January 13th. With this front, severe winds swept through the Idaho Panhandle bringing widespread damage, fallen trees, and power outages.
- Wildfire and High Wind in Idaho, August 25, 2008A strong cold front swept through Eastern Oregon and Southwest Idaho August 25th bringing damaging winds and a wildfire in Southeast Boise that raced out of control destroying nearly a dozen homes including one fatality.
- High Wind in Idaho, December 17, 2025A strong cold front moved through Idaho Panhandle early morning on December 17. It brought gusts in the range 60 to 72 mph. Numerous of reports of downed trees and powerlines. One fatality was reported in the Fernan Lake Village area from tree falling on house.
- High Wind and Winter Weather in Idaho, December 21 to 22, 2020A new winter system moved into the Idaho Panhandle as a trough dropped into the Pacific Northwest on December 21st. With the accompanying atmospheric river, this system had substantial moisture with it bringing a wet and windy day ahead.
- High Wind in Idaho, November 17, 2015An intense surface low pressure system moved from west to east along the Southern British Columbia border and dragged a cold front through as well.
- Flash Flooding and Winter Storm in Idaho, February 2 to 28, 1999Heavy snow of 6-15" each day was reported across portions of north Idaho. Some of the sites included: Sandpoint, Potlatch, St. Maries, Kellogg and Winchester. The heavy snow caused hazardous driving conditions and several accidents on area roadways.
- Damaging Winds and High Wind in Idaho, December 17, 2025A powerful cold front ripped through eastern Idaho on the 17th and included severe thunderstorms along the front and extremely high non thunderstorm winds in the cold sector post cold frontal passage throughout the day. Extensive damage was reported throughout the region.
- High Wind in Idaho, April 23, 2002One week after a heavy snowstorm, the same area in southeastern Idaho was hit by a windstorm. The passage of a strong cold front created the winds on April 23rd.
- Wildfire and High Wind in Idaho, September 7 to 8, 2020Unseasonably cold air spilled into the region resulting in strong northeast winds.
- High Wind in Idaho, December 14 to 15, 2006A deep low pressure system tracked east across Vancouver Island and southern British Columbia. This resulted in damaging southwest winds over North Central Idaho, the Idaho Palouse, and the Lewiston area. Numerous power outages and fallen trees occurred in these areas.
- Damaging Winds and High Wind in Idaho, December 17, 2025Mid-December's synoptic regime was dominated by a potent atmospheric river that caused widespread flooding on the west coast and persistent precipitation in the intermountain west.
- High Wind in Idaho, May 7, 2002Strong winds behind a cold front affected the Snake River Plain and Eastern Magic Valley from late morning through the evening hours. Sustained winds of 40 to 45 mph were commonplace.
- High Wind in Idaho, September 7 to 8, 2020A strong cold front passed through eastern Idaho shifting southerly winds to northeasterly with sustained speeds over 40 mph and gusts over 50 mph widespread. Extensive traffic problems and damage occurred.
- High Wind and Strong Wind in Idaho, April 4, 2022A deepening Low with strong jet support brought strong surface winds across Columbia Basin into the region. Winds were sustained in the high teens and mid 20s. Gusts ranged in the upper 40s to near 60. Power outages affected around 15000 customers.
- High Wind in Idaho, May 19, 2010A squall line brought localized high wind gusts to Moscow as well as Hayden Lake. When the squall line hit Moscow, a roof was ripped off the La Quinta Inn near the Washington and Idaho State Line. Screens were ripped off of windows as well.
- Winter Storm and Avalanche in Idaho, March 9 to 11, 2023A strong late winter Pacific storm brought heavy snow, heavy rain and strong winds which closed roads across southeastern Idaho. Reports of flooding and wind damage also occurred.
- High Wind in Idaho, April 2, 2018A powerful cold front moved through Idaho and very strong winds occurred behind the frontal passage. Sustained wind speeds over 40 mph were widespread with gusts in the 60 to 70 mph range. Many road closures due to blowing dust or blowing snow occurred with many trees downed.
- High Wind in Idaho, July 10, 2008A strong dry cold front passage resulted in damage north of the Bonners Ferry area up to U.S. Highway 95/101 Junction. Estimated wind gusts to 60 mph resulted in numerous trees falling on houses and mobile homes. Several strong building roofs were blown off as well.
- Winter Storm and High Wind in Idaho, December 20, 2016A robust shortwave brought heavy mountain snow, mixed precipitation and strong gusty winds. Cold surface temperatures contributed to icy conditions in valley locations.
- Heavy Snow and High Wind in Idaho, March 13 to 14, 2020An arctic front moving in from Canada collided with moisture from a trough off the Pacific Coast from the afternoon of March 13th into the morning of March 14th.
- High Wind in Idaho, March 14, 2026Yet another in a week of extremely strong winds occurred with the strongest wind day with a peak of 89 mph at East Butte and several gusts over 70 mph throughout the state.
- High Wind in Idaho, February 1, 2020A low pressure system in southern British Columbia carried a cold front through the Pacific Northwest on January 31st and February 1st. The windy conditions developed as the region became wedged between the leading warm front and incoming cold front.
- High Wind and Strong Wind in Idaho, December 17, 2025On December 17, 2025, a historic high wind event driven by a strong cold front undercutting an atmospheric river brought hurricane-force winds to North Central Idaho.
- High Wind in Idaho, April 24, 1996High winds gusting upto 75 miles an hour ripped through Southeastern Idaho. Damage occured in several communities. The most amount of damage occured in Jefferson county where winds were sustained above 45 miles an hour for four hours with higher gusts.
- High Wind and Winter Weather in Idaho, March 21 to 23, 2025A strong late winter storm brought light snow, wind and led to impacts with road closures and the cancelation of a major sporting event.
