- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 28, 2014On Monday, January 27, a very strong arctic front moved through Central Alabama, bringing extremely cold and dry air to the area. Across the north, temperatures dropped through the day and into the 30's shortly after sunset.
- Winter Weather in Alabama, December 15, 2010Moisture increased ahead of a weak storm system on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, across Central Alabama. Temperatures near or below freezing at the surface resulted in widespread freezing rain and sleet beginning around sunrise and lasting through most of the day.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 29 to 30, 2010On January 29th, a cold, dry air mass was in place across northern Alabama around daybreak. At the same time, a low pressure system was developing along a quasi stationary boundary extending from southern Louisiana east through southern Georgia.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Alabama, February 12, 2010A low pressure system moving across the northern Gulf of Mexico brought a swath of snow to a large portion of Central Alabama.
- Winter Weather in Alabama, January 7, 2010After midnight on the 6th into the day on the 7th, a low pressure system which had developed in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico brought snowfall to northern Alabama. Most locations received around one half of an inch.
- Winter Weather in Alabama, February 15, 2010Rain changed to snow after midnight on the 15th bringing a 2 to 4 hour period of light to moderate snowfall. Snowfall amounts ranged from a few tenths of an inch up to 2 inches. Some accidents were reported due to icy conditions.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 10, 2025A shortwave trough moved into the Mississippi Valley by early January 10, with a surface low moving across Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Existing cold air across the northern half of the state supported snowfall, which occurred after 3 AM.
- Damaging Winds and Winter Weather in Alabama, March 15 to 16, 2026A line of strong to severe thunderstorms ahead of a potent cold front pushed through Central Alabama from late March 15 into the early morning of March 16. Scattered instances of wind damage were observed across many counties in Central Alabama as the line moved through.
- Tornadoes and Damaging Winds in Alabama, January 24 to 25, 2026As a major winter storm unfolded across parts of Mississippi, Tennessee, and North Alabama, Central Alabama saw a quick warmup prior to a steep temperature fall as a surface low moved across the Birmingham area.

Very light precipitation spread into southwest counties of central Alabama just after sunrise and spread northeast during the day.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Alabama, February 9 to 10, 2011A low pressure system formed off the Texas coast in the Gulf of Mexico during the overnight hours of Tuesday, February 8th.
- Flash Flooding and Flooding in Alabama, January 13 to 15, 2013A cold front moved through the region on 1/13/13 with a line of thunderstorms producing scattered wind damage in northwest Alabama. Excessive rainfall developed across north Alabama as the cold front began to slowly stall out across the area.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 19, 2008A winter storm brought a swath of heavy snow to parts of central Alabama during the morning hours of January 19. The main band of snow accumulation was roughly bounded on the north side by Interstate 20, and on the south side by Interstate 85.
- Ice Storm and Winter Weather in Alabama, February 20 to 21, 2015A winter storm paralyzed travel across many parts of north Alabama and southern Tennessee on the afternoon and evening of the 20th. Snow and some sleet began during the late morning and early afternoon depositing one half to one and one half inches of snowfall.
- Flooding and Heavy Snow in Alabama, January 14 to 20, 2013A cold front moved into Central Alabama during the evening hours on Sunday, January 13, and stalled across southeastern portions of the area.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Alabama, January 14 to 16, 2024An impactful winter storm occurred after the passage of an Arctic cold front on the 14th and an upper level disturbance and jet streak tracked east-northeast through the mid South and Tennessee Valley the evening of the 14th into the 15th.
- Winter Weather in Alabama, December 26, 2010As a strong upper low moved across the area, flurries and bands of light snowfall developed during the early morning hours on December 26th, affecting much of Central Alabama through the day.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 17, 2013A strong upper level storm system moved northeast through the Tennessee valley region, with heavy snowfall and sleet reported in portions of north Alabama. Snowfall amounts ranged from up to an inch in northwest Alabama, to three to four inches in north central Alabama.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Alabama, December 8 to 9, 2017An extremely rare early season snow event occurred across the central Gulf coast late in the day on the 8th into the morning of the 9th.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 16 to 18, 2018Another winter weather event occurred across the area on the 16th into the 17th across the Gulf Coast. This marks only the 2nd time in recorded history that two measurable snow events occurred in one winter in Mobile.
- Winter Weather in Alabama, December 15, 2010A wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain developed during the morning hours as warm air aloft over-topped sub-freezing temperatures at ground-level. Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch were reported, especially across northeastern Alabama.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Alabama, February 9 to 10, 2011A winter storm moved southeast from the southern Plains states during the morning and afternoon of the 9th. Although the storm weakened considerably as it approached north Alabama, a period of accumulating snow occurred behind the passage of an associated cold front.
- Heavy Snow and Winter Weather in Alabama, February 12 to 13, 2014A low pressure system developed in the northern Gulf of Mexico which tracked northeast through Georgia and eventually up the East Coast. The system produced rain, which changed to sleet and then a heavy wet snow during the late afternoon and evening of the 12th.
