After midnight on the 6th into the day on the 7th, a low pressure system which had developed in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico brought snowfall to northern Alabama. Most locations received around one half of an inch.

After midnight on the 6th into the day on the 7th, a low pressure system which had developed in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico brought snowfall to northern Alabama. Most locations received around one half of an inch. However, isolated locations received around 1 inch of snowfall.

Refreezing of the melted snowfall produced slick conditions on the morning of the 8th. Icing was widespread across Marshall and DeKalb Counties. Emergency management officials discouraged travel in both counties. Numerous car accidents were reported across northern Alabama.

Up to one half of an inch of snowfall fell in Cullman County. Refreezing of melted snowfall created slick conditions on the 8th causing at least one accident. This accident turned tragic when a 19 year old lost his life after his vehicle crossed the center line and ran head on into a truck. The highest observed snowfall amount was 0.5 inches in West Point.

Up to one half inch of snowfall was reported in Colbert county. This caused slick conditions on the 7th, which became worse as refreezing of melted snowfall on the morning of the 8th. The highest observed amount was reported in Muscle Shoals.

One woman was hospitalized after her vehicle slid into a tree.

Several roads were closed for periods of time during this event. Some roads that were closed included: Cecil Ashburn Drive, Highway 72 over Chapman Mountain, and Clinton Avenue from 4th to Brahan.

Around 1 inch of snowfall fell across southern and eastern portions of DeKalb county. Elsewhere, a trace to one half of an inch of snowfall occurred. This caused slick conditions to develop on roads and overpasses across the county. Conditions worsened during the morning of the 8th as melted snow refroze. The highest snowfall amount of 1.3 inches was observed in Valley Head.
