Two distinct clusters of severe thunderstorms impacted central and northeast South Dakota during the afternoon and evening of June 4. In the northeast, severe storms generated large hail up to golf ball size five miles south-southeast of Cottonwood Lake and nine miles southeast of Tulare. The Huron Remote Automated Weather Station (RAWS) 12 miles east-southeast of Sunshine Bible Academy recorded a peak wind gust of 86 mph.

A separate cluster of storms tracked through mainly central and south central South Dakota producing peak wind gusts of 71 mph and 68 mph at the South Dakota Department of Transportation Road Weather Information System (RWIS) stations six miles southwest of the Joe Creek Recreation Area and nine miles north-northwest of Vivian, respectively.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for west central Minnesota,
central South Dakota, north central South Dakota and northeast
South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

A Slight Risk for severe weather (Level 2 of 5) is in effect for
storms this afternoon and evening. Large Hail of 1-2" in diameter
and damaging wind gusts of 60-70 mph will be the main threats. Can't
rule out tornado development over central South Dakota, and heavy
rainfall producing flooding is also a threat (particularly over areas
that have received substantial rainfall already this week).

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.
