Bitterly cold temperatures coupled with gusty winds during the late evening hours on January 31st, coupled with gusty winds after midnight allowed for dangerously cold wind chills to occur in Somerset County during the morning hours of February 1, 2026. The coldest temperatures were observed near Garrett, where a wind chill of -24 degrees was observed, with much of the county experiencing wind chills below -20 degrees.
