Hot conditions prevailed across the Panhandles during the week of June 8 through 12. However, the combination of lingering moisture, a dryline and these hot conditions allowed for a few thunderstorms to develop each day during the afternoon and evening. Some of these storms were severe with hail and damaging winds being the main hazard.

Eventually through, at least a 20 percent chance of a shower or thunderstorm, especially from the I-40 corridor points north. For the northern combined Panhandles, with line segments for main storm mode later this afternoon, damaging winds will be the main hazard to watch with DCAPE values averaging around 1500 J/kg and inverted-v profiles due to peak daytime heating. A secondary threat of large hail and potential localized flooding for any storm that trains or produce heavy rainfall rates are also possible. Thunderstorm chances should linger through or just past midnight tonight before conditions improve for the Panhandles. Going into tomorrow, a dryline should quickly mix out into the eastern Panhandles by the afternoon hours. With very strong LL H850 WAA by tomorrow afternoon, in-conjunction with higher Td for the eastern Panhandles, Heat Advisories have been issued for the central and eastern combined Panhandles with max temps tomorrow in the 105-109 range. An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for PDC with max temperatures topping out around 110 degrees. Hot temperatures across the board for tomorrow. Across the eastern Panhandles, east of the dryline, if we can break the cap tomorrow with enough lift, the threat for a severe storm or two is possible with all hazards potentially. Chances are as high as around 20 percent for any rain for the eastern Panhandles at this time. Will watch trends closely in the next 12-24 hours. && .LONG TERM... An apparently dead tree was blown down and caused damage to the metal awning of a house in Hooker. At this same time, there was a measured gust of 61mph at the mesonet site located one mile west-southwest of Hooker.
A thunderstorm wind gust of 96 mph was measured at the Oklahoma mesonet site located 11 miles northeast of Eva. The site also measured wind gusts of 70mph at 920pm and 58mph at 925pm.
