An upper-level shortwave trough pushing east across the Plains ushered in a band of accumulating snow across northern portions of the area during the overnight and early morning hours of the 11th. The brunt of the accumulation occurred between 1AM-6AM CDT, with the highest amounts staying north of Interstate 80, and especially along and north of Highway 92.

An upper-level shortwave trough pushing east across the Plains ushered in a band of accumulating snow across northern portions of the area during the overnight and early morning hours of the 11th. The brunt of the accumulation occurred between 1AM-6AM CDT, with the highest amounts staying north of Interstate 80, and especially along and north of Highway 92. Portions of Valley, Greely, Howard and Sherman counties received the most accumulation, with totals mainly in the 1-4 inch range. Isolated higher totals were reported, including 5.5 inches from a CoCoRaHS observer located 4 miles east of Scotia in Greeley County. At the surface, the area sat on the northern side of a passing cold front, ushering in northerly winds generally around 15-20 MPH during the event.
