Tornadoes and Damaging Winds in Mississippi, March 11, 2026

Outflow winds from nearby thunderstorms blew down a few power lines and a tree which fell onto a mobile home on Vernon Jones Avenue. Measured wind gusts at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers Airport were 46 mph with this outflow boundary.

A couple of trees were blown down along Whites Road and Star Road.

A tree and powerline were blown down on Liberty Road near Natchez.

Multiple trees and powerlines were blown down in across southwest portions of Franklin County.

A tree was blown down on Meadville-Gloster Road.

Multiple trees and powerlines were blown down across south central Franklin County.

Trees and powerlines were blown down across portions of southeast Franklin County.

A couple of trees and powerlines were blown down in the southwestern portion of the county.

Small tree limbs were blown down in and around the Bogue Chitto area.

The tops of several pine trees along Rolling Meadows Lane were broken or snapped, and tree limbs were blown down.

An EF-1 tornado touched down along Glade Lane and tracked east-southeast across Fox Road and through the north side of the Ruth and Bristerville communities. The tornado dissipated near the intersection of Silverton Trail and Orchard Lane, but additional straight line wind damage to trees and power lines continued south and east of the tornado path. The maximum wind speed of this tornado was 105 mph.

This tornado began near Pleasant Hill Drive and Elm Lane in southeastern Lincoln County and tracked eastward, crossing MS Highway 583 in the Ruth community. It then continued along Greenwood Road and Raiford Trail, crossing Primitive Drive in the Bristerville community, then across Monument Trail and Junction Lane before crossing into southwestern Lawrence County near the Verna community. It crossed Holmesville Road and paralleled Verna Road before lifting near Excell Boyd Road. Along the path, countless trees were snapped or uprooted, some in large swaths, multiple outbuildings sustained damage, utility poles were damaged, a mobile home sustained roof and skirting damage, and a site built home sustained minor wind damage. The maximum wind speed of this tornado was 105 mph.

Numerous trees and powerlines were blown down in the Ruth area.

Between corridors of tornadic wind damage, a swath of straight-line wind damage associated with a line of severe thunderstorms spread from near Ruth in Lincoln County to the north side of Jayess in Lawrence County. Numerous trees were uprooted or snapped, and some fell onto sheds, homes, and power lines. Estimated peak winds were 90 mph. Path length was 8 miles and around 2.6 miles wide at its widest.

This tornado began near Junction Lane and Ard Trail in far southeastern Lincoln County, crossing Holmesville Road as it moved into far southwestern Lawrence County around Homesville Road. It continued across Woody Road, WS Cothern Road, and MS Highway 44, passing near the center of the Jayess community. It then tracked across Jessie Wallace Road and Latrell Sanders Road before lifting just north of the Walthall County line. Along the path, numerous trees were snapped or uprooted, some in large swaths. Utility poles were leaning or broken with several lines downed. Multiple homes and outbuildings sustained roof and siding damage, and a business received roof damage. A poultry farm southeast of Jayess sustained roof damage. The maximum wind speed of this tornado was 110 mph.

Two people were injured along Price road when a tree fell onto them. One injury was critical.

Large tree branches were blown down along MS Highway 184.

A tree was blown down across Highway 27 near Virginia Speights Lane. A fatality occurred when a driver accidentally drove into the tree.

Trees were uprooted along MS Highway 43 in Arm.

An EF-1 tornado touched down just west of MS Highway 13 near Mapp Turner Road and moved east-southeast across Greens Creek Road, Friendship Road, Martin Bass Road, Carson-Bunker Hill Road and Hunnicut Road before crossing MS Highway 35. It lifted near Bassfield-Cemetery Road as it merged with the Choctaw Road tornado. The tornado uprooted and snapped multiple trees along the path and downed power lines. A few trees were down on a couple buildings and homes. Some tin damage was noted to some sheds and skirting was blown away from a mobile home. The maximum wind speed of this tornado was 100 mph.

A few rotted trees north of Prentiss were snapped or damaged.

A swath of winds developed along the southern path of the Bass Burkett Tornado. Downed trees were noted from Greens Creek road through Highway 35. Peak winds were 65-75 mph.

An EF-1 tornado touched down along Carson Bunkerhill Road, moved east across Bass Burkett Road and Lofton Drive, and dissipated as it crossed MS Highway 35. A few trees were snapped, but most trees were uprooted along the path. A couple power lines were down as well. The maximum wind speed of this tornado was 90 mph.

This brief EF-0 started along Grice Road where it uprooted a couple of trees. The tornado crossed Bunker Hill Road and ended along Highway 35, where it uprooted a couple more trees. The maximum wind speed of this tornado was 75 mph.

A large swath of wind damage occurred at the end of the tornado path to the east and south to southeast. Much of this was in and to the south side of the town of Bassfield. The worst damage from this wind swath was south of town along Bassfield Cemetery road where numerous trees were uprooted or damaged along with power lines down and sheds damaged and some homes damaged due to trees on them. Estimated peak winds were 85 mph.

An EF-1 tornado touched down just east of MS Highway 42, tracked east, and dissipated in Covington County near MS Highway 589. Trees were damaged along Hosey Mikell, Ridgeland, Stubbs, and Willie Buckley roads. A notable increase in intensity was seen as the tornado approached and crossed Gum Swamp Road around Fairman Lane. Hundreds of trees were snapped and uprooted in the area. Some minor damage was done to a few structures on the east side of Gum Swamp Road. The tornado continued east into Covington County at Sumrall Road where additional trees were uprooted. The tornado continued northeast and ended along MS Highway 589 where it uprooted a tree and snapped some large branches. The maximum wind speed in this tornado was 105 mph.

A swath of damaging winds occurred east of Bassfield, generally between two other tornado paths. Here peak winds were between 65-75 mph and multiple trees were damaged or blown down.

Multiple trees were blown down in western portions of the county.

An EF-1 tornado touched down near the intersection of Williamsburg Road and Claude Booth Road and tracked east-northeast across Good Hope Road and Willie Fortenberry Road. The tornado uprooted and snapped trees along the path. A few trees were downed on sheds. The maximum wind speed of this tornado was 90 mph.

An EF-1 tornado touched down just east of MS Highway 42, tracked east, and dissipated in Covington County near MS Highway 589. Powerlines were blown down along Dosh Road.

Numerous trees were blown down between Foster Road and Stanley Road, along with roof damage to a structure, and a trampoline thrown up into the trees.

An EF-1 tornado began just west of Okatoma Creek, uprooting several trees. The tornado continued northeast and ended just east of Old Highway 49, uprooting a few more trees. The maximum wind speed of this tornado was 90 mph.

A tree was blown down on Morning Star Road.

A powerline was blown down on Purvis Oloh Road.

Multiple trees were blown down around Highway 589 and Highway 98.

Widespread trees were blown down across northern and central Lamar County.

A tree was blown onto a house along County Road 23.

A tree was blown down across Augusta Road.

Several trees were snapped or uprooted in Eastabuchie, and a few outbuildings had roof damage.

An EF-1 tornado started west of MS Highway 15 where multiple trees were uprooted and snapped near near the intersection with Kings Lane. Off of Kings Ln. there was roof damage to two single story houses, and a metal shed was destroyed. The tornado proceeded east across Highway 15, damaged a gas storage tank, destroyed another metal shed, and uprooted and snapped trees on Red Holifield Road. As the tornado continued eastward, more trees were snapped and uprooted near Township Road and Robins Road. The tornado uprooted trees as it crossed Antioch Drive and Orange Road. The tornado dissipated east of Orange Rd. Max estimated wind speeds were 110 mph.

Multiple trees and power lines were blown down across northern Forrest County in the Hattiesburg, Petal, Macedonia, and Sunrise areas.

A few trees were blown down across southern Lamar County.

A tornado began just west of the Wayne County border along Blackledge Road where it produced minor tree damage and moved east into Wayne County. The tornado remained solely between Cleve Blackledge Road and Pleasant Grove Road. It reached its strongest point just prior to reaching Pleasant Grove Road where it caused significant tree damage evident on Sentinel 2 satellite imagery. A small building to the south of Cleve Blackledge Road also sustained significant damage visible on the satellite imagery but was likely associated with intense RFD winds rounding the south side of the tornado as debris was thrown towards the southeast. Estimated peak wind speeds in Jones County were 85 mph. Total path length was 1.66 miles across both counties.

A roof was blown off of a house on Grady Slade Road.
