These events contributed to short-term surface moisture gains. Despite these events, precipitation was not sufficient or consistent enough to fully eliminate long-term deficits, especially in areas that experienced prolonged dryness during fall 2025.

Greene county suffered D2 Severe Drought conditions in early January before worsening to D3 Extreme Drought conditions by the end of the month.
Craighead county suffered D2 Severe Drought conditions in early January before worsening to D3 Extreme Drought conditions by the end of the month.
Poinsett county suffered D2 Severe Drought conditions in early January before worsening to D3 Extreme Drought conditions by the end of the month.
Mississippi county suffered D1 Moderate Drought in early January. On the January 13 Drought Monitor release, most of Mississippi county worsened to D2 Severe Drought Conditions. D2 Conditions persisted for the rest of the month.
Phillips county suffered D1 Moderate Drought in early January. On the January 20 Drought Monitor release, most of southern Phillips county worsened to D2 Severe Drought Conditions. D2 Conditions persisted for the rest of the month.
Cross county suffered D2 Severe Drought conditions in early January before worsening to D3 Extreme Drought conditions in the northwest portion of the county by the end of the month.
Clay county suffered D2 Severe Drought conditions through the entire month of January.
