This will be part of a time span with well-above normal temperatures Saturday through at least Wednesday. && .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Saturday) Issued at 155 PM CST Fri Jan 31 2025 Northwest winds will continue to be gusty through the early evening hours before diminishing to light and variable after 6 PM. Winds will remain light through the overnight hours, allowing for good radiational cooling conditions. With that in mind, went a little cooler than NBM lows for some of our valley locations. On Saturday, winds will turn to the south to southwest and increase into the 10 to 15 MPH range by early afternoon. (Saturday night through next Friday) Issued at 155 PM CST Fri Jan 31 2025 The main story in the long term will be the well above normal and potentially record breaking temperatures. South/southwest winds, 850mb thermal ridging, and clear skies allowing plenty of sunshine will combine to bring much warmer conditions to West Central Texas. High temperatures Sunday and Monday will be 20+ degrees above normal and very close or above record high temperatures for the day (record highs on 2/2 and 2/3 are 82 degrees for both San Angelo and Abilene). Models are coming into slightly better agreement for the cold front late Monday into Tuesday. The GFS is still bringing the front into our area, but has it stalling out in our northern counties before quickly returning north, which limits its impacts on temperatures. Other models continue to keep it north of our area. So, temperatures will likely remain above normal through at least Thursday. We could see another cold front Thursday or Friday, but the strength, timing, and southward extent of the front is still uncertain. && .AVIATION...
