This disturbance continued WNW, eventually becoming a tropical depression (25W) on the 9th of November, and later becoming a tropical storm later that day to the east of the Marianas.

Man-yi (25W) originated from east of the Marshall islands where the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) first designated it as Invest 93W, northeast of Majuro, on the 7th of November. This disturbance continued WNW, eventually becoming a tropical depression (25W) on the 9th of November, and later becoming a tropical storm later that day to the east of the Marianas. While Man-yi approached the Marianas, it was sheared by northwest winds aloft and heavy convection remained displaced to the south and southeast of the center. During the overnight hours of November 12th, the fast-moving low-level circulation center began turning WSW, then SW to eventually pass south of Guam pre-sunrise 13th Nov. With shear weakening, Man-yi began to intensify as it departed the Marianas. Man-yi would continue towards the Philippines and on November 16th JTWC upgraded Man-yi to super typhoon status with maximum sustained winds around 160 mph. Man-yi would make its first landfall in the Philippines near Panganiban, Catanduanes later that day.

Tropical Storm Man-yi quickly passed south of Guam during the early morning hours of November 13th, making it closes approach to Guam between 0400ChST and 0500ChST at a distance around 40 miles SSE from the weather office in Tiyan. Maximum sustained winds of 30 knots (34 mph) and gusts of 42 knots (48 mph) were recorded by the ASOS at the airport and other stations across Guam. The minimum pressure recorded on Guam was 1005 mb, with the JTWC estimating the minimum central pressure was around 994 mb. Rainfall amounts were unimpressive across Guam as the weather office recorded a daily total of 0.09 inches and a two day total (Nov 12-13) of 0.40 inches, as most of the heavy showers were displaced south of the center due to strong wind shear (about 50 miles from Guam). The max water level measured by the Pago Bay Tide Gauge was 0.96 ft above MHHW. Impacts were minimal, mainly tree branches, some overturned canopies and downed political campaign signs.
