Dangerously hot conditions will prevail across Southeast TX as mid
to upper level high pressure continues to dominate the weather
pattern. The high temperatures for today and Saturday will stay in
the upper 90s to low 100s inland and in the low to mid 90s along the
immediate coast and Barrier Islands. Models are hinting at slightly
lower dewpoints for this afternoon which may keep our heat indices a
few degrees lower than yesterday, although remaining between 108 and
112 degrees F for much of the region. This pattern looks to be
similar for Saturday as well. Thus, Southeast TX will remain under a
Heat Advisory through at least Saturday and may be extended for the
next few days. The lows during the overnight into early morning
hours will remain in the upper 70s to low 80s, keeping us warm and
muggy at night.
These are dangerous heat conditions, please continue to practice
heat safety. Make the appropriate adjustments if you plan to work or
spend time outdoors. Remember to hydrate often, wear lightweight and
loose fitting clothing, stay in the shade or cool off in an air
conditioned building, and wear sunscreen. Never leave children or
pets unattended in vehicles. If the ground is too hot for your
hands, then it is also too hot for their paws.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Check with your local authorities regarding the potential opening of
any cooling centers in your area.

Running out of ways to say that it will be hot and humid. The
upper level ridge that has been parked over the Desert Southwest
will continue to be there through Monday, then will slide eastward
to be directly over Texas by midweek next week. There is a weak
shortwave moving across East Texas on Sunday that may bring an
isolated storm to areas east of I-45, but between subsidence from
the high and a decent cap in place I don't expect anything more
than a stray shower. PoPs east of I-45 are around 15 percent, and
that is being generous. And with that high pressure sliding
further over the region by midweek will kill any hope for
precipitation through Thursday.
High temperatures across the inland portions of the region through
the week will be near 100 degrees, give or take a couple of
degrees, while the coast will top out in the low to mid 90s.
Overnight lows will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Peak heat
index values each afternoon will be 105 to 110 degree range, so
Heat Advisories will likely continue.

around 10 to 15kts during the daytime hours and between 15 and
