Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

.SHORT TERM...Tonight and Tuesday
It has been a rather quiet day across eastern Idaho as weak ridging
remains in place allowing for mainly clear skies and light winds.
This will continue into the overnight as well but overnight lows
will run on the warmer side of normal by some 5-10 degrees. Things
change as we move into Tuesday however as a potent shortwave swings
through the region tomorrow. Winds will be the biggest story as
there won't be much precip with this feature, although we do expect
some. Winds will flirt with advisory levels mainly in the Magic
Valley and into the South Hills but for now look like they will stay
just below thresholds. This will create some fire weather concerns
with warm temps expected, see discussion below for more on that.
Temperatures ahead of the front will warm significantly and we will
likely climb into the lower 90s for highs in much of the lower
valleys with mid to upper 80s in the mountain valley zones. Again,
precip should be fairly limited and likely focused across the higher
terrain, but it can't be ruled out down into the Snake Plain either.
Cooler air will filter into the region behind the front as we move
into Wednesday. McKaughan
.LONG TERM...WEDNESDAY THROUGH NEXT MONDAY...
Post-cold front, fairly strong SW winds will linger Wed especially
up the Snake Plain corridor, peaking during the afternoon at 20 to
30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH (lighter outside of this corridor). A
Wind Advisory might be needed for the Arco Desert region, while
speeds further south may hold just shy of meeting Lake Wind Advisory
criteria/creating dangerous waves on American Falls Reservoir. The
other sensible wx impact post-front will be a noticeable drop in
temps with highs only topping out in the upper 60s to mid 70s Wed
afternoon, about 15 degrees cooler than Tue! Right now, it looks
like Wed and Thu should hold dry for our region. As we head toward
Fri, however, a fresh low pressure system will drop south along the
PacNW coast, stall over Oregon/nrn California, and then potentially
eject inland sometime over the weekend. Ahead of it, deep S/SW flow
will draw increasing moisture/PWATs northward into our region with
increasing chances of daily showers/t-storms from Fri onward. A
modest warming trend is also likely until the low (or eventual open
trough axis) pushes east of our CWA Sun or Mon. The afternoons will
be a bit breezy until the system pushes east as well. 01

.AVIATION...
VFR conditions expected to prevail through the day and into the
overnight with light winds and mostly clear skies. Things become a
bit breezier after daybreak tomorrow but especially after 18Z as a
frontal boundary is poised to move through the region. Winds will
get breezy areawide. Precip will be fairly limited with this and
primarily focused in the higher terrain potentially impacting KSUN
and KDIJ but this is still just outside of the current forecast
period. McKaughan

.FIRE WEATHER...
Weak ridging over the Great Basin and nrn Rockies today will break
down and surrender to an approaching low pressure system. This
system will track east from WA to MT Tue and Wed, with a cold front
swinging through SE Idaho Tue eve. Breezy winds on the order of 20-
25 MPH gusting over 35 MPH are expected for nearly all zones (lower
along the WY border) Tue afternoon into Tue night, continuing Wed
across most of Zones 425, 476, 410, and 411, direction SSW ahead of
the front turning into the WSW behind it Tue eve and beyond. Right
now, the only zone where decent coverage of critical RHs will
overlap with the winds is Zone 425, so after coordination with NWS
Boise, SCIIDC, and the Great Basin GACC, we have issued a RED FLAG
WARNING for this zone from 3 PM to 9 PM Tue. The overall duration of
true meteorological Red Flag conditions is a bit limited as it will
take some time for winds to increase Tue afternoon, and then RH
values will moisten rapidly during the eve as diurnal temps drop
even as strong winds continue into the night. If any fires ignite,
partners should bear in mind that gusty post-frontal winds will
continue well beyond 9 PM. This system will also bring isolated t-
storms Tue afternoon and Tue night regionwide, perhaps sct in
coverage in Zones 475, 476, and 411. Storms will generally lean dry
and gusty. RHs will improve slightly Wed/Thu with no storms
currently expected, before a deep south flow ahead of our next low
pressure system transports increasing moisture northward Fri into
the weekend. 01
