The main changes to today's forecast were adjusting rain chances
based on current trends. A lifting area of low pressure near the
SE GA/SC border is aiding in a batch of convection currently tracking
south into the upper I-75 corridor courtesy of wrap-around
moisture on the system's left flank. These cells are embedded in a
tropical airmass characterized by 2.2" Precipitable Water, per the
14Z SPC mesoanalysis, so heavy downpours are possible. Radar has
been persistently showing enhanced low-level velocities and robust
outflow, suggestive of strong/gusty winds, especially as CIN
erodes from daytime heating. Convective coverage should continue
increasing through the afternoon. Further development along the
seabreeze is expected while continued showers/storms funnel in
from the north. Additional cells are likely to form mesoscale
boundary collisions. Hot conditions are still on tap for us, but most
locations should stay below heat advisory criteria.

.NEAR TERM...
(Today and tonight)

Deep tropical moisture will remain over the area through the near
term as a tropical wave passes to our east. A bit of troughiness in
the mid levels over north Florida will help support scattered
showers and thunderstorms throughout the day and into the evening
today. A few storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall,
but severe weather is generally not expected. Late in the evening or
early overnight hours, a weakening MCS may approach the area from
the north. Confidence is fairly low that it will hold together into
our forecast area, but it is worth monitoring through the day today.

High temperatures today are forecast in the upper 80s to low 90s
across the eastern half of the area where the axis of higher
moisture exists. Further west, highs in the mid 90s are expected
with slightly drier conditions. Heat indices are generally forecast
in the 100 to 107 degree range this afternoon. A few spots could
reach heat advisory criteria (108), but confidence is low and
coverage would likely be sparse. Low temperatures tonight are
forecast in the mid 70s to near 80.

.SHORT TERM...
(Sunday through Monday night)

The upper low over the area this morning will shift eastward by
Sunday. Rising heights and thicknesses will allow temperatures to
soar once again. Many inland areas will see high temperatures in the
upper 90s with a few spots hitting 100 degrees. Most of the area
will meet heat advisory criteria of heat indices of 108 degrees.
However, most of our FL counties are advertised to reach excessive
heat criteria (heat indices of at least 113) and a watch has been
issued for those areas. PoPs will be in the 30-50% range with
highest to the southeast. For this reason, Taylor, Lafayette and
Dixie Counties are not expected to reach excessive heat criteria.
Monday looks to be just as hot if not hotter and another combination
of heat advisories and watches are expected. PoPs will range from 20
north to 60 southeast. In addition to the sea breeze, we will
need to keep an eye out for any upstream MCS's that could take aim
on the forecast area in the northwest flow regime.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through Friday)

Heat will continue to be the main concern as conditions on Tuesday
and Wednesday look nearly identical to Monday. Thursday and Friday
may not meet heat headline criteria, but Saturday looks to as
ridging reasserts itself. We will need to continue to keep an eye
out for MCS's.

A bit of fog and low stratus over the Suwanee Valley this morning
should dissipate over the next couple of hours. Showers are
forecast to develop across GA this morning with eventually some
thunderstorms also possible. These showers and storms are forecast
to push slowly southward across the area this afternoon. Outside
of that, generally VFR conditions are expected.

.MARINE...

Morning offshore buoys are reporting light northeast winds with
seas around 1 foot while radar shows isolated showers across the
waters. Light and variable winds today outside of an onshore
seabreeze this afternoon, then turning westerly tonight and
remain so through Tuesday. Winds become variable once again on
Wednesday generally at 10 knots or less with seas up to 2 feet.
Scattered showers/storms are forecast through the period in a
diurnal fashion with activity being greatest in the overnight and
morning hours.
