Mid-level troughing remains over the northeast Gulf of Mexico. This
will keep a light WSW onshore flow over the region for today.
Showers and storms have been firing over the eastern gulf waters all
morning and will slowly move toward the coast later this morning and
move farther east over the interior through the afternoon and
evening hours. The morning surface observations and visible
satellite imagery have been showing partly to mostly cloudy skies
with temps in the upper 70's to mid 80's this morning. The 12Z
sounding is showing abundant moisture with a PWAT of just over 2
inches, which will support the continued development of numerous
showers and scattered storms through the day. No significant changes
needed to current forecast.

With a WSW onshore flow combined with ample moisture and expected
instability, the best potential for convection at coastal sites runs
from late morning through mid-afternoon before storms transition
eastward over the interior. Outside of thunderstorms, VFR conditions
should prevail, but brief periods of gusty and MVFR/IFR conditions
are possible with storms that do develop. Similar setup is expected
again on Tuesday, but a slight decrease in moisture may mean fewer
storms and shorter windows for impacts.

An onshore west-southwest flow will keep showers and thunderstorms in
the forecast during the morning and early afternoon hours across
coastal waters for the next couple days, with the best potential for
storms today. Wednesday will be a transition day with north-
northeast winds, then by Thursday, a more easterly flow returns,
with thunderstorms favored in the afternoon and evening hours. Gusty
winds and rough seas will be possible in the vicinity of
thunderstorms.
