Heat is the story of the day. Most recording sites have had heat
indices above triple digits since around 9am this morning. This has
been exacerbated by the fact that shower activity has been
limited. Drier air in the column today will continue to limit
showers/storms, with greatest chance south of I4. Saturday's setup
will be very similar, except the flow will be out of the W/SW
throughout the day, and increasing into the afternoon/evening.
This will favor showers mostly inland in the late afternoon.
Sunday an upper level trough will begin to dip south, increasing
PoPs from north to south Sunday into Monday. Question will be, how
far south will the energy from this trough and moisture reach.
Currently models are favoring north of I4 for highest coverage.
Westerly flow continues into next week before the ridge axis in the
moves north once again, bringing the return of easterly flow and the
more typical summertime pattern.

VFR conditions through the evening with the exception of passing
showers/thunderstorms. However, models were indicating less
coverage, especially for southern sites. Light and variable winds
return overnight before the westerly flow takes over through the day
Saturday.

Westerly winds will begin to increase over the weekend and into
early next week. Likely topping out around 10-15kts with gusts a
little higher. Winds begin to diminish and shift to the E/SE mid
week as the ridge axis moves back to the north.
