What happened

The episode as NWS LIX wrote it up.

A plume of moisture associated with a mid-level system began to move into the region from Florida. This abundant moisture yielded fairly expansive coverage compared to previous days but with most of the moisture being in the mid levels, most storms were outflow dominant. That meant the threat for gusty winds was elevated and one storm’s outflow winds reached severe limits.
