.Marianas Synopsis...
Satellite shows mostly cloudy skies and widely scattered showers
moving through the Marianas Waters, mainly in Guam and Rota Waters.
An upper-level low near 25N158E will create a risk for thunderstorms
through Tuesday. A tropical disturbance well south of Guam will
maintain scattered showers for Guam and Rota Waters through Tuesday
night.

.Discussion...
A Tropical Disturbance passing well south of Guam is already
beginning to pull away and its affects will begin to fade, then
after Tuesday night will largely disappear, if not even sooner. An
upper-level low near 25N158E that has been triggering a risk of
lightning is now struggling against a mid-latitude trough moving
eastward from Japan. Left the thunderstorms in the forecast through
Tuesday, but they may not last that long. Whether the upper-level low
is torn apart or advected elsewhere, it will not be affecting us much
longer.
After Tuesday, it looks like a return to more seasonal dry season
weather is in store. A trade-wind regime will set back up and rain
amounts will diminish. Generally benign weather will reign.

.Marine...
Moderate to fresh winds and combined seas of 5 to 7 feet will
gradually diminish. They will become gentle to moderate winds and
combined seas of 3 to 5 feet by Wednesday. Generally benign marine
conditions will then continue through at least Saturday, and possibly
through the middle of next week.

.Fire weather...
The Keetch-Bryan drought index is down to 404. Conditions will dry
out for a time and it will likely increase some, however with wet
season almost here, we can go ahead and declare the fire season to
be essentially over.

.Tropical systems...
Tropical Storm Choi-wan (04W) is moving west of 130E. We issued the
last WFO Guam public advisory on it at 2 PM. Please refer to
bulletins from JMA and PAGASA for further information on Choi-wan.
A tropical disturbance is passing well south of Guam, in Yap state.
At this point in time, little potential is seen for development
within the next 24 hours.

.Eastern Micronesia...
Partly cloudy and isolated showers for Pohnpei tonight as the trade
winds push through behind the disturbance (90W). The trades will
continue to push west and bring clearing for Chuuk later tonight
through Wednesday night. Convergent trades set up again near Chuuk
on Thursday.
There will be a slight northward push of the band of showers
currently stretched across eastern Micronesia which will give Kosrae
a break from heavier showers for a day or two, then expecting the
band of showers to settle back over Kosrae.
Majuro's forecast is for isolated showers for the rest of the week
as convergent trade winds and associated weather sits just south of
the coastal waters. Seems like the GFS has been handling these
features pretty well over the past day or so. A notable tradewind
convergence comes and brings increased showers by the end of the
week.
Surf is now below hazardous levels for Kosrae. forecast for Kosrae
with south swell mixing with easterly swell.

.Western Micronesia...
Tropical Storm Choi-Wan (04W) continues to bring in southwest winds
for Koror and Yap. Much of the heavier weather lies in the southwest
quadrant where convergent winds and convection can be seen. Winds
for the airport were around 10 kts, though scatterometer winds
indicated a small fetch area of 25-30 kts upstream of Koror's
coastal waters on the 0100Z pass. Keeping the High Surf Advisory in
place for another 12 hours, and any surge in the southwest winds
will most likely be further west as Choi-Wan moves further away from
the forecast region and weak high pressure moves in.
Strong convective area east and southeast of Yap (90W) most likely
will pass north of Yap, and clear well to the northwest of Yap on
Thursday with high pressure ridging in. Still, visible satellite
shows that plenty of convective clouds and thunderstorms are nearby
on the boundary of the monsoon winds which, but the GFS, is
expected to stay south of Koror and Yap.

Abundant rain continued to fall across much of the eastern half of Micronesia and the|Marshall Islands. This allowed Wotje to improve their drought situation. This caused Wotje to go from drought level D2 (Severe Drought) at the end of May to D0 (Abnormally Dry) at the end of June.
