A winter storm that started as rain as it moved into central and southern Missouri, then turned to a wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain and snow before changing over to all snow in some areas. Heavy snow fell across central Missouri with accumulations between 6 and 12 inches. Portions of south central Missouri saw significant ice accumulations that resulted in power outages and numerous trees and limbs down. As the precipitation was winding down, areas of freezing drizzle persisted through the overnight hours of January 12.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Missouri
Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Snow accumulations will occur over portions of extreme southeast
Kansas and the Missouri Ozarks Friday through Saturday. The
heaviest accumulations will occur up across central Missouri,
where four to six inches will be possible along and northeast of a
line from Lake of the Ozarks to Salem.

Lighter amounts are expected elsewhere.

There is also a small risk for glaze of ice to occur on elevated
objects.

Stay up to date on the latest forecast for any changes as the
storm system comes onshore in the western U.S. today.

Heavy snow fell across Morgan County, with a general 7 to 11 inches. A measured 7.5 inch storm total was reported on the north side of Versailles. CoCoRahs station MO-MG-6, located 3 miles South southeast of Stover reported a storm total of 8.0 inches. CoCoRahs station MO-MG-5 located 2 miles northwest of Stover reported a storm total of 11.1 inches of snow, while a storm total of 9.0 inches was measured in Barnett.

Main roads became snow covered by late afternoon with several accidents being reported. Total snowfall ranged from and estimated 4 to 6 inches across the far northern areas of the county, to 2.0 inches reported by the COOP observer at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
