The upper trough that brought a cooling trend to the area on September 7 and 8 was followed by another dry upper trough which pushed through the area on September 10 and brought a continuation of cooler than normal temperatures for a few more days along with another round of gusty winds to the area between the afternoon of September 10 and the early morning of September 11. Wind advisories were posted once again for the Tehachapi area and the Kern County Deserts as several stations reported wind gusts between 45 and 55 mph. The highest gust reported was a 60 mph gust at Mojave on the evening of the 10th.

.SYNOPSIS...
A warming trend will occur through the end of the week with
temperatures rising to 5-10 degrees above normal for Friday and
Saturday. Gusty winds will continue through the Kern County
mountain passes through early Wednesday morning. Dry weather will
continue with mainly clear skies through the week.

.DISCUSSION...
An upper level trough over the region that is responsible for the
cooler temperatures today will move out of the region tonight. As
the trough exits, winds will remain gusty through and below the
passes and canyons in the Kern County mountains and desert areas
tonight.

High pressure will build over the region through the end of the
week with a warming trend and lighter winds. Temperatures that
are nearly 10 degrees below normal today will warm to as much as
10 degrees above normal by Friday and Saturday. For the San
Joaquin Valley, highs will be in the upper 90s to around 100
degrees Friday and Saturday. The high will begin to break down on
Sunday as another low pressure system drops out of the Gulf of
Alaska and digs south along the west coast. This will cool
temperatures a few degrees Sunday, with a bigger drop in
temperatures Monday as the trough begins to move inland. Gusty
winds are expected to accompany this trough Sunday night and
Monday in the San Joaquin Valley and the Kern County mountains and
desert areas as the onshore flow increases and cooler air spills
in.

There is some question on whether or not there will be any
moisture making south into Central California with this system.
Models are not in good agreement with that yet, and it is still 6
to 7 days out. Can not rule out some light precipitation Monday or
Tuesday, mainly near Yosemite. However, with much uncertainty,
have kept POPS 10 percent or less for now.

Gusty winds could create localized MVFR or lower conditions in
blowing dust and sand across the Kern County Desert. Otherwise,
VFR conditions will prevail across the Central California interior
for at least the next 24 hours.
