The first 18 days of November were noted for being unusually dry across the area as a large area of dry high pressure dominated the weather picture. Temperatures were above normal across the area from November 3 onward. Finally a strong low pressure center approached the southern California coast on November 19 bringing increased winds to the area. Several locations along the west side hills of the San Joaquin Valley and the Kern County Mountains and Deserts reported wind gusts exceeding 30 mph. A few low impact indicator sites near Tehachapi and Lake Isabella briefly had gusts above 50 mph.
