An upper level low brought precipitation to Southern California over Memorial Day weekend. The San Bernardino and Riverside mountains received 1-3 inches of snow. Along the coast, there was less than 0.10 inches, in the valleys 0.25 to 0.50 inch of rain fell, and the mountains received up to 1.5 inches of precipitation. High winds occurred in the mountains and desert slopes with the passage of the low.
Overall, May was much cooler than average in the valleys and deserts. Many areas from coast to mountains received 3 to 5 times the normal amount of precipitation for May.
