The initial call came in around 10:00 a.m. of two swimmers in trouble in Rodanthe.|The victim's friend started CPR, which was continued by local paramedics. Efforts to revive the Baldwinsville, New York man were unsuccessful.
As the offices recorded each death: direct deaths were caused by the weather itself, indirect ones by something it set in motion.
