What happened

The episode as NWS CAR wrote it up.

Strong low pressure tracking northwest of Maine drew a cold front across the region from the late evening of the 15th into the early morning hours of the 16th. Strong west to northwest winds developed in the wake of the front. Sustained winds generally ranged from 25 to 35 mph...with gusts of 50 to 60 mph...across northern portions of the region. With leaves still on many trees...the winds snapped branches and toppled trees on to power lines leading to power outages. Fallen trees also blocked some roads. In excess of 15000 customers were without power at the peak of the event during the morning of the 16th. This included customers across all of northern and eastern Maine. Power outages also occurred across central and Downeast portions of the region. However...winds were generally slightly less across central and Downeast areas. Much of the power was restored by that evening...though a small number of outages persisted into the morning of the 17th.
