Building surface high pressure across northern California and Oregon interacting with an upper trough across the Great Basin resulted in gusty northerly winds across the region. This along with dry humidity resulted in Red Flag conditions across the North and East Bay Hills as well as the Santa Cruz Mountains. Gusts over the highest peaks exceeded 70 mph with widespread gusts above 1000 feet between 40-50 mph.
