.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Tuesday night...Upper low over sw
Washington will remain nearly stationary the next couple of days
before retrograding swwd off the Oregon coast on Tuesday. An arctic
front along the ORE/WA border will move southward tonight bringing
very cold air to the region. Numerous snow showers can be expected
tonight especially over the western half of the forecast area.
Several winter highlights are in effect through Monday morning.
Please refer to the latest PDXWSWPDT product for the specific
details. Blowing snow will also be an issue tonight in Washington as
strong northerly winds develop behind the cold front. Snow will
gradually diminish in intensity and coverage Monday afternoon and
evening with just a few light snow showers expected into early
Tuesday. Tuesday night there could be some snow in central Oregon as
a system approaches the area from the south. It will get
progressively colder with time through the period. High temperatures
on Monday will be in the 20s with teens in the mountains. Lows
Tuesday morning will be in the single digits with single digits
below zero in the mountains. On Tuesday highs will be mostly in the
teens with lows Tuesday night -5 to +5.

.LONG TERM...Wednesday night through Sunday. Models continue to
have major differences in the evolution of the pattern Wednesday
through Friday with the GFS/NAM with a much wetter and warmer
pattern, while the ECMWF returns to a colder/dryer pattern. Have
trended a little warmer, but still mainly dry until Saturday. The
weekend appears to be wet and warmer as a low pressure moves along
the coast and southwest flow spreads moisture across the region.
Temperatures will be quite cold with highs in the single digits and
teens Wednesday and Thursday, warming to 20s and 30s by the weekend.

overnight with snow showers continuing to rotate through the region
overnight and through much of the day Monday. Mainly VFR and MVFR
conditions will prevail, but some IFR VSBY and Ceilings possible
