.PREV DISCUSSION [610 PM EST]...
.NEAR TERM [Through Tonight]...
Surface high pressure ridging, emanating from the high pressure
center across the midwest, will slowly shift eastward overnight.
This will cause wind directions to shift from the current
northwesterly direction to the northeast by daybreak. Another
excellent night is in store for radiational cooling to take place
with clear skies and dry conditions. Lows will fall into the lower
30s inland, with mid to upper 30s closer to the coast. A 4-6mph wind
overnight will push wind chills down into the upper 20s to mid 30s.
.SHORT TERM [Tuesday Through Wednesday Night]...
In the upper levels a ridge will remain over the Southeast until
Wednesday evening when a trough moves through. At the surface a low
will move out of The Great Plains and into the Midwest. This low
will be near The Great Lakes by Thursday morning. The associated
cold front will move through The Lower Mississippi Valley and
approach the forecast area on Wednesday night. The southern end of
the front will be decaying rapidly as it approaches the region.
Therefore only a slight chance of rain is forecast on Wednesday
night for the extreme northwestern portion of the region. Tuesday
will be dry and sunny with highs in the lower 70s. On Wednesday
afternoon clouds will increase as low level moisture increases with
the return of southerly winds. Highs on Wednesday will be in the mid
70s. Lows will be in the 40s on Tuesday night and 50s on Wednesday
night.
.LONG TERM [Thursday Through Monday]...
On Thursday remnants of the cold front will likely linger
along the Gulf Coast for a couple days. POPs will be very low but
low level moisture and cloud cover may linger. By Saturday cool dry
air associated with high pressure over the Midwest will move into
the region. On Sunday night low level moisture will return as winds
become southerly ahead of an approaching cold front. It looks like
there will be a good chance for rain early in the week as the system
could stall over the region. Highs will be in the 70s and lows will
be in the 40s and 50s.
.AVIATION [Through 00Z Wednesday]...
Unlimited cigs and vsbys will prevail through the period. Winds
will be light and variable overnight and become more easterly
Tuesday as high pressure to our north shifts eastward.
.MARINE...
Light to moderate northeasterly winds will become southerly by
Wednesday. Dry weather will continue this week.
.FIRE WEATHER...
Critically low relative humidity levels will continue on Tuesday.
Red Flag criteria will not be met across Alabama and Georgia,
however, due to light winds. In Florida, high fuel moisture indices
will combine with long durations of low relative humidities to
necessitate a Red Flag warning for much of the Florida panhandle.
Relative humidity levels will climb back above critical levels
Wednesday through the weekend.
.HYDROLOGY...
Dry weather will continue this week. It looks like there will be a
good chance for rain early next week.
