Stalled cold frontal boundary sitting across NE FL along the I-10
corridor in the middle of June and morning sounding PWAT's close
to 2 inches will pose a rather complex forecast with today's main
threat being locally heavy rainfall along and near the boundary.
Surge of NE winds is expected to push down through SE GA later
this morning and into NE FL by the afternoon and this will enhance
low level convergence along the front and still expect at least
numerous to widespread showers and storms to develop today and the
slower storm movement and training activity along the front will
provide the focus for locally heavy rainfall with widespread
amounts of one half to one inch possible along and near the
frontal boundary and localized 2-4 amounts possible with some
minor flooding is expected but not expected to be widespread
enough to warrant flood watch at this point. Abundant cloud cover
today will hold max temps into the 80s but enough heating and
instability will be available to combine with low level
convergence and upper level trough/energy to produce thunderstorm
activity. Some of the storms could still be strong along and just
south of the frontal boundary...mainly along and sough of a line
from Gainesville to St Augustine...with gusty winds of 40-50 mph
still possible although a few severe storms from wet microbursts
not out of the question. The NE Flow will increase winds along the
coast to 15-25g35 mph by the afternoon which will continue
tonight. This flow will also help to drive the frontal boundary
south of the region through the weekend leading to a slow drying
trend in shower/storm activity.

Rapidly changing conditions this morning as predominant VFR will
become MVFR as shower activity increases around TAF sites with
tempo IFR in heavier showers and storms during the afternoon
hours. NE flow will increase first at KSSI later this morning with
15g25 knots possible the remainder of the day while the NE FL taf
sites will take much longer for NE flow to impact them although NE
FL coastal TAF sites should reach into the 15g25 knot range by the
evening hours.

Small Craft Advisories appear on track as Northeast Flow increases
from North to South along the coast today, pushing into SE GA
waters later this morning/early this afternoon and NE FL waters
late this afternoon/evening. Sustained winds expected to increase
to 25 knots by tonight with a few gusts to Gale Force not out of
the question, but still do not look frequent enough to warrant a
Gale Warning at this time.
Rip Currents: Increasing threat to Moderate later today as NE
winds increase...and possible high risk in windy NE Flow on
Sunday. Surf expected to build into the 4-6 ft range by Sunday.

Side Note from last nights squall line event that moved down the
SE GA/NE FL coast. Brief 0.50 to 1.00 feet surges of water were
noted at the tidal gauges from St Simons Island to Mayport. The
Mayport tidal gauge jumped over 1 ft from 924 PM EDT to 936 PM EDT
as the squall line pushed through with wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph
from the North.
Otherwise today with the heavy rainfall along the stalled front
across NE FL expect some localized flooding in some locations but
not confident in any certain areas and antecedent conditions have
not been too wet recently...so no Flood Watch planned at this time
but localized amounts of 2-4 inches in the heaviest activity not
out of the question.

The Jacksonville radar (KJAX), 39 km away, was scanning. The volume nearest the first event began at 18:27 UTC.
2 heavy rain, 1 funnel cloud. Local standard time, as filed.
About 3.5 inches of rainfall fell within an hour. This caused ankle deep water on the Southside near Old St. Augustine Road in the Grand Lakes Subdivision.
A spotter measured 2.5 inches in one hour.
An observer at the St. Augustine airport reported a funnel cloud to the north.
