Area of high pressure moved over the central California region creating favorable conditions for nighttime and early morning radiational fog development across the San Joaquin Valley.
Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

At 04:56 PST the Visalia Airport AWOS (KVIS) reported visibility less than 1/4 mile.
At 06:30 PST, reports of several school districts opening late due to the dense fog were received.

At 07:53 PST the Merced Airport (KMCE) ASOS reported visibility less than 1/4 mile.
At 01:43 PST the Merced Airport (KMCE) ASOS reported a visibility of less than 1/4 mile.
Two fatalities occurred due to approximately 50 foot visibility near intersection of Rahilly Road/Hwy 59 in Merced County.
As the offices recorded each death: direct deaths were caused by the weather itself, indirect ones by something it set in motion.
