The drought that began in June 2012 persisted through October 2013. Conditions did improve through the month across north central Nebraska where above normal precipitation was observed. Although drought conditions improved, severe (D2) to extreme drought (D3) conditions remained from the Western Sandhills into southwest Nebraska at the end of the month, while the remainder remained was observed at Abnormally Dry (D0) to Moderate (D1) Drought conditions.
