What happened

The episode as NWS OKX wrote it up.

Low pressure developed across the Southeast U.S. on November 6 and intensified as it moved northeast, passing south and east of Long Island by November 8.

This nor'easter came on the heels of Superstorm Sandy. Strong north to northeast winds resulted in widespread minor and some moderate coastal flooding during the times of high tides.
