An upper level storm system moved from western Arkansas across Tennessee. Moisture spread northward from the system as colder air filtered in from the northwest. Heavy snowfall from 3 to 5 inches occurred east of Boonville in Spencer County. Elsewhere to the south of Interstate 64, the snow accumulated from one to three inches. Specific snowfall reports included 5 inches in Rockport (Spencer County), two inches in Newburgh, 1.5 inches in Boonville, and one inch in Evansville. Roads became very slick and hazardous south of Interstate 64, especially from Evansville east.
