Strong winds knocked down trees near the towns of Smiths and Lumberton. Two people were in critical condition when their car hit a downed tree on Tar Heel Road.
Strong winds downed trees on Market Street, Masonboro Loop Rd, and Treybrook Rd. One tree fell on a power line and started a fire. Another tree fell across Greentree Rd.
Highway 701 was closed due to downed trees and power lines.
A large tree fell across Maco Road. More trees and a power line were blown down on Old Town Creek Road, and the road was temporarily closed.
