An area of low pressure tracked through the Great Lakes on the 30th. This spread precipitation across Virginia. Low-level cold air remained in place during the morning and early afternoon hours of the 30th allowing for some freezing rain. Ice accumulations ranged from a trace to a few hundredths of an inch across portions of northern Virginia as well as the Shenandoah Valley.
