The episode as NWS BUF wrote it up.
Lake effect events continued to come fast and furious in the cold pattern of January. As cold air deepened following the passage of an upper trough, a narrow band of heavier snow developed right along the lakeshore of Monroe county and extended southeast into western Wayne County. This dropped 6 to 10 inches in just a few hours from the lakeshore of Irondequoit southeast across Penfield, Webster and Pittsford. There was a sharp cut off as the City of Rochester received only an inch or two.
