.SYNOPSIS...
.SHORT RANGE...LARGE SCALE STORM IS TRACKING N INTO THE GULF
AS A PAIR OF 958 MB LOWS DUMBELLING AROUND EACH OTHER WITH
AN INTERMEDIATE LOCATION OF 200 NM SSW OF KODIAK. A STRONG
OCCLUSION WILL BE SENT INTO THE EASTERN GULF OF ALASKA
TONIGHT...NOTE MARINE WINDS INCLUDE HURRICANE FORCE FOR AREA 52.
FRONT TIMING USED WILL BE INTERMEDIATE BETWEEN THE GFS AND
SLOWER NAM.

SNOW FOR HAINES TONIGHT WILL BE CLOSE TO HEAVY CRITERIA AND
WATCH IS STILL BEING MAINTAINED UNTIL WE GET A CLOSER LOOK
AT THE APPROACHING OCCLUSION.

.LONG RANGE...MODELS CONTINUE TO BE IN GOOD AGREEMENT MON NIGHT
THROUGH WED. AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL BUILD AS IT MOVES EAST
OVER THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN GULF MON NIGHT THROUGH TUE...THEN
WEAKEN AS IT MOVES INTO THE PANHANDLE AND WESTERN BRITISH
COLUMBIA ON WED. AS THIS UPPER LEVEL RIDGE BUILDS...THE LINGERING
SURFACE LOW OVER THE NORTHWEST GULF WILL MOVE SOUTHEAST AND
DISSIPATE OFF THE COAST OF BARANOF ISLAND TUE AFTERNOON. RAIN
SHOWERS...SNOW SHOWERS OVER THE NORTHEAST PANHANDLE...WILL
GRADUALLY DIMINISH AS THIS LOW WEAKENS AND WILL BECOME ISOLATED
TO SCATTERED INTO TUE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. FEATURES REMAIN
FAIRLY WEAK MON NIGHT THROUGH TUE NIGHT WITH 15 KT OR LESS OF
WIND EXPECTED.

NEXT WEAK LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES INTO THE GULF TUE NIGHT. A
LOW AROUND 1005 MB WILL MOVE INTO THE NORTHWEST GULF TUE
NIGHT...THEN WEAKEN AND DISSIPATE OVER THE CENTRAL GULF THROUGH
WED NIGHT. THE OCCLUDED FRONT WILL SPREAD SMALL CRAFT
WINDS...POSSIBLE MIN GALES OFFSHORE AND NORTHERN OUTSIDE
AREAS...OVER THE EASTERN GULF LATE TUE NIGHT AND WED. THE FRONT
WEAKENS AND DISSIPATES AS IT MOVES INTO THE PANHANDLE ON
WED...THEREFORE THE BEST CHANCE FOR RAIN WILL BE ALONG THE COAST
WITH NO STRONG WINDS EXPECTED.

LOW CONFIDENCE REMAINS FOR THU THROUGH SUN. MODELS DO AGREE THAT
THE LONG WAVE PATTERN BECOMES HIGHLY AMPLIFIED WITH A STRONG
UPPER RIDGE BUILDING OVER THE EASTERN PACIFIC THROUGH
ALASKA...HOWEVER THE PLACEMENT OF THE RIDGE AXIS AND WHETHER OR
NOT A CUT OFF HIGH DEVELOPS OVER NORTHERN ALASKA REMAINS AN
ISSUE...IN ADDITION TO THE PLACEMENT OF AN ARCTIC HIGH. THE GFS
IS INCONSISTENT FROM RUN TO RUN ON THE PLACEMENT OF THIS HIGH AND
WHETHER OR NOT A MAJOR ARCTIC OUTBREAK WILL OCCUR. THE ECMWF
CONSISTENTLY WANTS TO KEEP THIS FEATURE AND THE ARCTIC AIR TO THE
EAST OF THE PANHANDLE. WILL CONTINUE WITH THE CURRENT FORECAST
WHICH DOES FAVOR DRY CONDITIONS BUT KEEPS TEMPS NEAR CLIMO OR
SLIGHTLY BELOW.
