A strong low pressure system departing toward the Canadian Maritimes, combined with an area of high pressure moving east from the Great Lakes, produced a large pressure gradient that resulted in high winds mainly across the eastern half of Massachusetts. These winds brought down limbs, trees, and power lines, causing power outages across the region.

Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.
A strong low pressure system departing toward the Canadian Maritimes, combined with an area of high pressure moving east from the Great Lakes, produced a large pressure gradient that resulted in high winds mainly across the eastern half of Massachusetts. These winds brought down limbs, trees, and power lines, causing power outages across the region. High wind gusts knocked down several large trees, limbs and wires across Worcester, Middlesex, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth counties. Blue Hill Observatory in Milton recorded a sustained wind of 43 MPH at 241 PM EST. In Georgetown, high wind gusts knocked at 15 inch diameter tree down on a nearby truck. In East Boston, strong wind gusts brought a utility pole and wires down on Boardman Street. No injuries directly resulted from this high wind event.
