SNOW CONTINUES PRIMARILY OVER THE EASTERN HALF OF THE FORECAST AREA
IN ZONE OF WEAK WARM AIR ADVECTION. REPORTS OF 1 1/2 TO 2 INCHES
REPORTED OVER THE EASTERN SOUTH PLAINS FROM CROSBYTON AND FLOYDADA
NORTHEAST TO CHILDRESS. ROADS MAINLY WET DUE TO WARM GROUND
TEMPERATURES. COULD EASILY SEE A FEW MORE INCHES ACCUMULATION
EASTERN SOUTH PLAINS INTO LOW ROLLING PLAINS AND SOUTHEASTERN
PANHANDLE. NOT MUCH ACCUMULATION IN LUBBOCK OR AREAS SOUTH. STILL
SOME LIGHT BANDED PRECIP. CONTINUES TO DEVELOP SOUTHWEST OF LUBBOCK
TOWARD BROWNFIELD. WILL HOLD ON TO HIGHLIGHTS FOR NOW AS UPPER LOW
IS STILL MOVING SOUTHEAST OUT OF COLORADO TOWARD THE REGION. NOT
CONVINCED OF HEAVY SNOW ACROSS WEST...BUT WILL WAIT AND SEE WHAT THE
2 TO 3 HOURS BRING. NORTHERLY WINDS OVER THE SOUTHWEST PANHANDLE
WILL COME SOUTH NEXT SEVERAL HOURS AS 850 TO 700 MB COLD ADVECTION
DOMINATES. THAT WILL RESULT IN LOW LEVEL SUBSIDENCE...BUT IT STILL
REMAINS TO BE SEEN THE CONTRIBUTION FROM DYNAMIC LIFT FROM UPPER
LOW.

A strong upper level disturbance slowly moved into the South Plains area from the Central Rockies on the 5th. Precipitation developed ahead of this system and began as a rain/snow mixture over most of the extreme southern Texas Panhandle, South Plains, and Rolling Plains. The mixture gradually changed to all snow during the morning hours of the 5th as the cold air deepened across the region. The snow ended during the late evening hours with a swath of four to six inch snowfall amounts occurring across the eastern South Plains, northern Rolling Plains, and extreme southeast Panhandle.
