AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR 1000 AM AST THU SEP 26 2002 THE 12Z SOUNDING INDICATED A LOCALLY UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE...BUT THE CIRRUS CANOPY FROM TROPICAL STORM LILI MAY CUT OFF THE SOLAR INSOLATION ENOUGH TO INHIBIT AFTERNOON CONVECTION. HOWEVER...THERE IS VERY VIGOROUS CONVECTION FROM THE EXTREME OUTER BANDS OF LILI AFFECTING THE SOUTHWEST PORTION OF THE CARIBBEAN MARINE ZONES EXTENDING INTO THE MONA PASSAGE AND IS APPROACHING THE SOUTHWEST COASTAL SECTIONS OF PUERTO RICO. WILL HAVE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THE CONVECTION INTO THE AFTERNOON. FOR THE MARINE CONDITIONS...THE AFOREMENTIONED CONVECTION IS APPROACHING THE NEAR SHORE MARINE ZONE WEST OF PUERTO RICO AND WILL UPDATE COASTAL ZONES TO REFLECT THIS. WILL ALSO UPDATE FOR CURRENT CONDITIONS IN LOCAL SOUTHWEST CARIBBEAN WATERS. FOR ATLANTIC WATERS...AS MENTIONED IN PREVIOUS DISCUSSIONS LONG PERIOD SWELL GENERATED BY KYLE WILL START TO INCREASE LOCAL SEAS ON FRIDAY.
