Flash Flooding and Damaging Wind in New York, June 14 to 15, 2002

A narrow band of rain persisted from Lake Ontario across Wayne and northern Cayuga counties and remained through early afternoon. Later that afternoon an isolated thunderstorm produced flash floods and wind damage in Warsaw, Wyoming county. The thunderstorm also produced downpours that resulted in flash flooding. As much as five inches of rain fell. Basements were flooded in Newark, Butler and Wolcott. Stayton Road in Conquest, Dalton Road in Ira and Rte. 370 in Cato were flooded.

ALOFT...THE AXIS OF AN 80KT H3 JET WILL RUN ACROSS THE FA AND THIS WILL HELP TO SUPPLY SOME UPPER LEVEL LIFT TO THE WHOLE SCENARIO. ESPECIALLY FOR SITES EAST OF THE GENESEE VALLEY WHERE THE OMEGA FIELDS WILL BE MOST IMPRESSIVE.
