Lightning caused a fire that flared up on the 13th and burned 3 to 4 acres on Pocket Mountain in Granite. Approximately 70 firefighters from 16 departments responded to the blaze. A tall pine tree was apparently struck late on the 8th and the resultant fire smouldered in the tree or in the ground until it flared up on the 13th.
