COLD FRONT MOVING SLOWLY ACROSS NORTHERN CA THIS EVENING. THE FRONT
EXTENDS SOUTHWEST FROM JUST EAST OF REDDING. A SHORTWAVE IS MOVING
NORTHEAST NEARLY PARALLEL TO THE FRONT AND IS RESTRICTING THE
EASTWARD MOVEMENT AT THE MOMENT. ANOTHER SHORT WAVE DROPS INTO THE
BASE OF THE UPPER TROUGH LATE TONIGHT AND WILL HELP TO KICK THE FRONT
AND PRECIPITATION EAST. THE EASTERN EDGE OF THE PRECIPITATION BAND IS
OVER THE WESTERN MOUNTAINS OF LASSEN COUNTY DOWN TO NEAR BLUE CANYON.
MODEL QPF FORECASTS ARE NOT IMPRESSIVE THIS EVENING. LAKE TAHOE QPF
IS LESS THAN A QUARTER INCH WITH HIGHER ELEVATIONS AROUND A HALF
INCH. THE SNOW ADVISORY ISSUED EARLIER LOOKS GOOD WITH THE FORECAST
SNOW AMOUNTS AND NO CHANGES ARE NEEDED FOR THAT. ONE CHANGE THAT WILL
BE MADE IS TO DECREASE THE SNOWFALL FORECASTS FOR MONO COUNTY FOR
SUNDAY...FROM 3-6 INCHES AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS TO PERHAPS 1-3 INCHES.
