Severe thunderstorms packing high winds fell trees and caused property damage stretching from near Bertrand to Saint Paul. The first round of damage, mainly to outbuildings, occurred northeast of Bertrand on a farmstead. North of Kearney, a mobile home was completely destroyed by the high winds. South of Poole, two irrigation pivots were rendered useless by the wind. Farther east in Cairo, 12 to 15 large trees were pushed over by the wind. In Saint Paul, a tree fell on a house and a vehicle. Finally, the roof was torn off the gymnasium at the R-1 school north of Grand Island. Fortunately, the school sustained little other damage aside from the roof.
