SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION

WILL UPDATE ZONES AND INCLUDE...REMAINDER OF AFTERNOON...DUE TO
EXTENT AND STRENGTH OF INCOMING CONVECTION.

PREVIOUS DISCUSSION...

VIS SATELLITE IMAGE THIS AFTERNOON SHOWS CU FIELD DEVELOPING ACROSS
NORTHWESTERN AND SOUTHERN LA. RADAR IMAGES SHOW SCATTERED SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA MOVING WEST. THIS IS
SUPPORTED BY THE MSAS ANALYSIS WHICH SHOWS GOOD MOISTURE
CONVERGENCE IN THIS AREA.

THIS ACTIVITY IS BEGINNING TO IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE CWA AS
WELL AS THE COASTAL WATERS SOUTH OF ATCHAFALAYA BAY. EXPECT
THESE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO CONTINUE THROUGH THIS EVENING
MAINLY OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN CWA AND ALONG THE COAST...WITH ISOLATED
ACTIVITY ELSEWHERE. SINCE THESE STORMS ARE PRIMARILY DRIVEN BY
AFTERNOON INSTABILITY...I DONT EXPECT THEM TO BECOME AS STRONG AS
THOSE YESTERDAY WHEN UPPER LEVEL SUPPORT WAS MORE FAVORABLE.

THE LOW PRESSURE AREA IN THE WEST CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO IS PROGGED
TO MOVE TO THE COAST OF NORTHEAST MEXICO/SOUTHERN TEXAS BY
TOMORROW...ALLOWING ONSHORE FLOW TO DEVELOP. SHOULD SEE AN INCREASE
IN SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AS THE SEA BREEZE SETS UP. IN
ADDITION...THIS INCREASE IN CLOUDS AND SHOWER ACTIVITY SHOULD HINDER
THE HEAT INDICES FROM BEING AS WARM AS TODAY...SO I DOUBT THAT HEAT
ADVISORY CRITERIA WILL BE MET TOMORROW.

WILL KEEP AN EYE ON THE GULF LATER IN THE WEEK AS BOTH THE ETA AND
AVN TRY TO DEVELOP ANOTHER LOW SYSTEM IN THE EASTERN GULF. IN THE
UPPER LEVELS...5H RIDGE WILL GRADUALLY RETROGRADE OVER THE WESTERN
STATES WHILE A SHORTWAVE WILL DROP DOWN THE EAST SIDE OF THE RIDGE
PUTTING THE AREA UNDER A TROUGH. WILL KEEP SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS IN THE FORECAST EACH DAY DUE TO DIURNAL INSTABILITY.
