AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDIANAPOLIS IN 230 PM EST TUE MAY 28 2002 BIG PROBLEM IN AFTERNOON FORECAST IS TIMING OF PRECIPITATION EVENTS NEXT 48 HOURS. MODELS GENERALLY KEEP SUMMERTIME AIR MASS IN PLACE THROUGH THURSDAY WITH NO DEFINITIVE SHORTWAVES TO IMPACT THE AREA UNTIL THURSDAY AFTERNOON. HOWEVER WILL UNDOUBTEDLY BE SEVERAL SHORTWAVES EMANATING FROM TROF DEVELOPING OVER THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY THAT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA AND ENHANCE ANY CONVECTION ALREADY OCCURRING OR READY TO FIRE. MODELS ARE HOWEVER SIMILAR IN DROPPING A FAIRLY SIGNIFICANT TROF ACROSS THE AREA THURSDAY AFTERNOON AS FLOW ACROSS THE AREA TRANSITIONS FROM WESTERLY TO NORTHWEST. KEPT POPS IN ALL PERIODS THROUGH THURSDAY WITH HIGHEST (50 PERCENT) FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW THEN LOWERED TO 30 PERCENT. POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAIN IS PRESENT WITH WET AIR MASS IN PLACE BUT AREAL COVERAGE WILL BE SOMEWHAT LIMITED AND DID NOT STRESS IN ZONE. SCATTERED CONVECTION ATTM MAINLY ACROSS EAST CENTRAL AREAS AND WILL BEGIN DIURNAL DECREASE BY SUNSET. OTHER ACTIVITY OVER FAR SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND WESTERN KENTUCKY MOVING NORTHEAST BUT DECREASE ALSO EXPECTED BY SUNSET AND DONT THINK WILL SPREAD VERY FAR INTO THE CWA. SUMMERTIME TEMPERATURES ALSO TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK WITH LOWS IN THE LOW TO MID 60S AND HIGHS 80 TO 85. MAXES WILL BE VERY DEPENDENT ON AMOUNTS OF SUNSHINE WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. IF THE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON START OUT MOSTLY SUNNY THEN MID 80S ARE A REAL POSSIBILITY. .IND...NONE. RPG
