Strong Wind in Georgia, September 27, 2002
As the remnants of Tropical Storm Isidore moved through middle Tennessee and the circulation center passed closest to northwest and north Georgia, a three to four hour period of gusty winds developed. Winds, gusting from 30 to 35 mph continued to blow down some trees, some of which fell on power lines.

As the remnants of Tropical Storm Isidore moved through middle Tennessee and the circulation center passed closest to northwest and north Georgia, a three to four hour period of gusty winds developed. Winds, gusting from 30 to 35 mph continued to blow down some trees, some of which fell on power lines. This was essentially the second surge of wind with Isidore, the first coming during the evening of the 26th was apparently associated with a feeder band. This time, however, the brunt of the wind damage occurred in northeast Georgia, particularly in the higher elevations. The areas from Ellijay in Gilmer county to Blairsville in Union county were among the hardest hit. Numerous trees and power lines were blown down in Gilmer county. Georgia Highway 5 was blocked north of Ellijay. In Union county, nearly two dozen trees were blown down, one of which caused damage to a house.

SHORT WAVE REMAINS GET CAUGHT UP IN FAST SOUTHWEST FLOW AND LIFTS QUICKLY TODAY THRU OHIO RIVER VALLEY INTO NORTHEAST STATES. ATLANTIC RIDGE BUILDS WEST INTO THE SOUTHEAST BY SATURDAY.
