SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOS ANGELES/OXNARD CA 850 AM PDT SAT MAY 11 2002 AS EXPECTED, SOME CLOUDS STILL LINGERING ACROSS LA COUNTY THIS MORNING. I EXPECT THEM TO DISSIPATE BY THIS AFTERNOON, BUT THEIR PRESENCE THIS MORNING INDICATES THERE IS STILL ENOUGH MARINE AIR IN THE VALLEYS TO KEEP TEMPS FROM RISING TOO MUCH TODAY. MOST AREAS SHOULD STILL SEE A FEW DEGREES OF WARMING TODAY. WITH GRADIENTS MUCH LIGHTER, WINDS WILL NOT BE A CONCERN LIKE THEY WERE YESTERDAY. MOTHERS DAY LOOKS PICTURE PERFECT, WITH WARM TEMPS INLAND AND MILD TEMPS AT THE BEACHES. MARINE LYR CLOUDS SHOULD BE MINIMAL, AND CONFINED TO COASTAL LA COUNTY AT MOST. WARMER VALLEYS SHOULD BE APPROACHING 90, WHILE BEACHES CLING TO THE MID 60S TO LOWER 70S. DOESNT LOOK LIKE TOO MUCH CHANGE MONDAY, THOUGH GRADIENTS WILL START TRENDING ONSHORE AND SEA BREEZE WILL BEGIN A LITTLE EARLIER. VALLEY TEMPS SHOULD STAY QUITE WARM, BUT SOME COOLING WILL WORKS ITS WAY INLAND. THE NEXT TROF MOVING INTO THE PAC NW EARLY NEXT WEEK LOOKS LIKE IT WILL NOT HAVE AS MUCH IMPACT AS PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT. AS A RESULT, TEMPS WILL NOT DROP QUITE AS MUCH AS EXPECTED AND MARINE LYR WILL NOT BE NEARLY AS EXTENSIVE.
